Learning to Run: Day... Week 4

Now that we're into the fourth week of the running program, I'm abandoning the "Learning to Run: Day X" format. Now that I'm a full month in I'm really feeling like this is something I can stick with, and Scott (my aforementioned running partner/guru extraordinaire) and I already have visions of future 5Ks and triathlons dancing in our heads.

I have to admit, I think we've even surprised ourselves with how hardcore we've been about this lately; sticking to the running plan (4 times a week), and not even letting rain or chilly weather deter us.

I've also been surprised with how inspired some of our friends have been. After reading the blog one friend told me she's running again, and trying the run/walk method. Encouraging friends like this was totally unanticipated, but a very positive turn of events. I'm now hoping that if Scott or I find our enthusiasm waning we can turn to these newly inspired friends for some encouragement.

Yay running! Here's what the plan looks like for this week:

Monday - Run 8 min, Walk 1 min, Repeat 3X, Run 3 min
Sidenote: So this jumped up from 6 min run, 1 min walk last Saturday, and we um... got confused and did 7 min run, 1 min walk yesterday. Oh well, we'll be back on track Wednesday

Wednesday - Run 9 min, Walk 1 min, Repeat 3X

Friday - Run 10 min, Walk 1 min, Repeat 2X, Run 8 min

Saturday - Run 11 min, Walk 1 min, Repeat 2X, Run 6 min

It's really starting to ramp up. Bring it on!

It's absolutely true. Waking up at 6am is insane, yet I continue to do it (arguably - some days seem more like I'm imitating a ZOOMbie rather than running).

This has been a true testament to the effectiveness of having a motivation buddy. You hold me accountable to actually being present, and then I crack the whip on those hills :-)
